Musim penghargaan sudah semakin panas. Setelah Golden Globe pekan lalu mengumumkan nominasinya, kini London Film Critics juga telah mengeluarkan nama-nama calon penerima penghargaan. Perayaan kali ini merupakan tahun ke-35, dengan Mr Turner garapan Mike Leigh memimpin torehan banyaknya nominasi dengan tujuh kategori termasuk Film of the Year dan British Film of the Year.
Setelah itu, Birdman mengekor dengan enam nominasi. Lalu disusul oleh Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything, serta Under the Skin yang masing-masing membawa pulang lima nominasi. Kemudian ’71, Nightcrawler, pun Whiplash sama-sama mengisi slot di empat nominasi. Hal yang cukup unik tahun ini adalah nama Julianne Moore tertulis dua kali dalam satu kategori: Aktris Terbaik untuk film Maps to the Stars dan Still Alice. Pun Timothy Spall (Mr Turner), Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything), serta Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game) masuk di dua nominasi berbeda: Actor of the Year dan British Actor of the Year.
London Film Critics beranggotakan 140 orang kritikus dari UK, sedangkan acara penganugerahan akan diselenggarakan pada 18 Januari 2015 di London’s May Fair Hotel.
